Fortitude Community Outreach
These instructions have changed for Fall 2020...please read carefully!
Please sign up EVERY individual planning to volunteer. Please only sign up/bring children Jr. High age and above.
During this shelter season we will only be providing outreach supplies at a shelter site for shelter guests. If you wish to tour the shelter site after outreach services, one of us would be happy to share that with you!
Please follow these instructions:
Meet at River Valley Christian Fellowship at 8pm, South entrance, at the Fortitude trailer. We will arrive with our outreach trailer around 8pm so please wait outside for us to arrive. Masks are required. We have a limited supply that we prefer to give to our guests. We have gloves available if you desire them. Please maintain good social distance with volunteers and guests.
We do not accept any donations in the field. If you would like to bring any donations, please deliver to Bargains & Treasures (396 N. Kennedy Dr.) Tues-Fri 11-6 (closed Sundays and Mondays) or Saturday 10-1.
We also do not accept any mandated volunteers. If you are looking to fill volunteer hours for school, organizations, or court, please consider other organizations such as the Salvation Army. We do not have the capacity to complete/sign forms and because we work with such a vulnerable population, it is vital we only have volunteers 100% committed to serving them.
Although we have not experienced any safety concerns, outreach does come with some potential risk. Fortitude teams take every precatution to maintain safety but volunteers should maintain awareness, secure all personal items, and make sure to remove oneself and/or ask for help any time a sense of discomfort around someone is experienced. By signing up, you are affirming that you have read this disclaimer and understand the risks and safety measures to be followed.
