Harrison High School Lacrosse Club
Please remember that just like all other sports and activities, we depend on parent volunteers to keep this club operational. We are even more dependent on volunteer help due to our club sport organization. We have been fortunate to have great volunteers in our HHS LAX history and we are looking forward to another successful season!
Each family will be required to volunteer this season. We encourage you to sign up early for those jobs for which you are most interested. After a reasonable time following notification that the sign-up is available (say 2 weeks), if you have not signed up for the required number of slots, we will sign you up for open slots! Sign up early and often - we would LOVE for you to sign up for more than your required amount of slots!!
Please see below for a description of each of the expected volunteer opportunities. Note that you are not limited to volunteering for your player's team (i.e., Men's player parents can volunteer for Women's team slots). For example, a Women's player parent could volunteer to take admissions at a Men's game and therefore not miss out on watching their player's team. If you have other skills that could benefit our club and season, let us know how you could help! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Volunteer Coordinator, Emalee Havel at [email protected].
Please note that this sign-up is likely to be revised as the coaches finalize their season schedules.
HHS LAX Volunteer Opportunities
Season Long Volunteer Jobs
Note: Committing to these fulfills ALL Volunteer Requirements for the Season. If you are interested in any of these season long jobs, contact Volunteer Coordinator, Emalee Havel at [email protected]
Field Prep and Lining (at least two people per team) - Assist with layout and lining the field in preparation for home games within a week prior to the first home game. Touch up paint on a weekly basis once lined. Coaches will be there to help and give direction. Flexible scheduling as you would coordinate with other volunteers and coaches to choose a time that works for everyone. Great opportunity to learn more about the game and get outside!
Scoreboard/TimeKeeper (at least two people per team) - Run the scoreboard and keep the game clock for home games. Coaches will outline the clock keeping directions prior to games. This is a great job to learn the game of lacrosse. We would love to train several individuals to help for backup when others can’t be at games. This job is critical, we cannot have home games without it.
Photographer (one per team) - Take pictures at games for the yearbook, HHS LAX website, and to share with lax families. Utilize a photo sharing site of your choice to share photos. Volunteers would have to provide their own equipment.
Player Statistics (2-4 per team) - Keep player statistics during games. We are looking for 2-4 volunteers to commit to the season, all games, home and away, to learn how to keep statistics during a game. We will teach you, it's not hard!! If you are interested in learning, please sign up for as many games as possible. For this opportunity, it would be best that the player's parents volunteer for their player's team (for example, interested volunteers who have a son should volunteer for the Men's team games). Again, this is a great job to learn about lacrosse, get a bird’s eye view of the action, and learn who the players are on the team. The more individuals per team to help provides flexibility when others can’t attend a game.
Women’s Team Assistant Coach / Coach Support - We are looking to support our one and only head coach, Bob Rode, and the entire women’s team with some volunteer assistant coaches. This job would be a great way to learn the game of lacrosse, spend time with a great group of women, and make a real difference for the club. There are many ways we can fulfill this job, including recruiting 5-6 people who can rotate in weekly to support Bob at practice. You can also volunteer to be at practice daily! Let’s be creative and fill this need. This team of assistants will support Bob and the team during practices and games. Additional adults at practice will provide much needed security and safety at practice if there were any emergencies.
Women’s Team Representative - Generally, the job for the team reps is to provide assistance to the HHS Lacrosse Board and to coordinate with all of the parents and families to support our lacrosse teams. Specifically, the team reps will help on home game days to ensure things run smoothly (we will give you the tools you need and help you!). Also, team reps assist the board in planning for our special events such as senior day and end of the year banquet.
Game Day Volunteer Opportunities
Note: You must sign up for 3 of these to fulfill your volunteer requirement. You will be randomly assigned these jobs if you do not sign up yourself. You are exempt from these jobs if you help with one of the "Season Long Volunteer Opportunities" described above.
Admissions - Take admissions money and distribute tickets for home games.
Game Ice - We are required to have a cooler full of ice for the trainers to use for each bench at home games. The LAX club owns coolers for this purpose. This job involves getting the coolers from the last person to do this job, purchasing or acquiring ice for the two coolers and bringing the ice to the game.
Snacks - Provide team snacks for away games.
Drinks - Provide team drinks in a cooler (water or gatorade/powerade type drink) for away games.
