HAM Radio Operators - Rest Stops

Communicate needs of volunteers/participants to staff and net control. Assist rest stop or start/finish volunteers, as able. Location assignments to be made closer to the event. Current FCC-issued HAM radio license required.

Incident Response Team

Respond to medical or bicycle mechanical calls along the route. Contact emergency services, as necessary. Proof of current first aid and CPR certification, driver's license, and automobile insurance required prior to event. Driver's training required.

Patrol route and assist participants with basic first aid or bike repairs (ex: flat tire). Background check, proof of current motorcycle license, and vehicle insurance required prior to event. Helmet required.

Net Control

Answer phone calls from participants in need of assistance. Coordinate SAGs and HAM radio operators. Serve as liaison between communications volunteers and staff. Contact emergency services, as needed.

Photograph participants along the route and at rest stops. it is required that photographers provide their own digital camera or video camera. Send all pictures to volunteer staff person post-event.
