Roxborough Space Day Parents
Roxborough Space Day is a daylong event sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization (PTIC) since 2008, for students at RXI & RXP. Our PTIC organization plans fun and educational space-related activities and an assembly for our students every year. Our volunteers help make this a day that is truly out of this world for our students!
For 2021: The Space Day committee has also provided optional classroom activites and virtual activities for each teacher for Monday - Thursday so they will have a Space Day week this year!
***On April 30th, we will only have OUTSIDE activities and volunteers will NOT be allowed in the buildings. We also have some activities not listed here that do not require parent volunteers. (Since this has to be an outdoor event due to COVID-19 restrictions, May 7th will be a backup day should the weather not cooperate.)
For safety reasons we ask that all volunteers:
-Wear a mask at all times unless drinking
-Maintain 6' social distance
-Bring your own water & sunscreen (none will be provided)
-If you are a parent or community member volunteering at both RXP & RXI, we suggest you bring a lunch to eat outside or go home to eat.
-Use restrooms at the Shell station, Safeway, or Roxborough Library if needed.
PAPERWORK: Please click the following link to fill out a Parent Volunteer Agreement HERE. Douglas County Schools requires a new volunteer form is on file for each school year. As soon as possible, please print out the form, fill it out, scan it along with a photocopy of your Driver’s License and email to the school ASAP. It must be received prior to Space Day. For RXI: Dawna Scarborough [email protected] and RXP: Teresa Marquez [email protected]
Non-parents will need to fill out the Community Volunteer Application HERE.
VOLUNTEERS: Please sign up for one activity (either at RXP or RXI or both). You will be there for the entire shift - thank you!
DIRECTIONS FOR THE DAY: Parents are to assist with set up/clean up, passing out supplies, etc. Sometimes students need help with directions, cutting, taping, etc. There will be a lead volunteer to run the activity.
**Watch for an email the SUNDAY night before Space Day which will give parent/community volunteer more details for the day.
Thank you for volunteering and for supporting Space Day! It is because of donations collected through PTIC and the commitment of our volunteers that we are able to host this fun and educational event for all of our students!
