Urban Farm Volunteer
Come volunteer with us on our budding new Urban Teaching Farm! We are excited to get your help. We broke ground in early November 2018 and are in an exciting phase at the farm. We are establishing infrastructure, building beds, planning out our planting calendar for the year, and seeding tray upon tray in our little greenhouse.
We grow hundreds of pounds of diversified vegetables throughout the year. Carrots to cucumbers, scallions to squash. Most of the produce gets packed into our Harvest Boxes (a 24 week long, weekly box of vegetables for 30 members in 2019). When we have some extra vegetables and extra hands to help harvest, we make sure that produce gets harvested and added to our weekly Produce Giveaways at the farm.
Tuesday Urban Farm Volunteer: You will be getting your hands and boots dirty working on the farm during this shift. Activities likely include: harvesting produce, washing/packaging vegetables, weeding beds, transplanting plant starts, and/or greenhouse work.
Wednesday Produce Giveaway Volunteer: You will help us set up, organize, operate, and clean up a Produce Giveaway for folks in the neighborhood affected by hunger. Activities likely include: lifting boxes of produce up to 30lbs, sorting vegetables and fruits into boxes, greeting users and helping load their car with produce, cleaning up tables and tents.
Please show up 15 min prior to your volunteer slot!
If you have a specific date in mind for your group and do not see a time slot available, please reach out anyway and we will see what we can do. We love to share knowledge about farming with groups willing to learn.
