Fresh Mobile Markets 1
Looking to get more involved with Out of the Garden Project (OOTGP) or just need some extra volunteer hours?
Sign up to volunteer at one of our Fresh Mobile Markets - Food Drops! This is an incredible experience to meet our community and see what OOTGP is all about.
*** Please note that these are 2 hour shifts! It is helpful to our staff in volunteers are able to stay until the end of the shift to help clean up!
Our Fresh Mobile Markets (FMM) take place at 4 - 6 high need schools and food deserts every week. We distribute between 50 – 70 Ibs of food per family. Depending on the site we have between 50 - 80 families at each Fresh Mobile Market. This food includes shelf-stable food from the government, bread/dessert, milk/juice, fresh produce, pizza, and meat. Frozen food is also provided when available.
For your safety: Closed toed shoes are a requirement for all volunteering with Out of the Garden Project. Heavy lifting is involved but can be avoided if you aren’t able.
In an effort to keep volunteers at Out of the Garden Project safe, all volunteers should sanitize their hands upon starting their volunteer activities and directly after completing them. We will provide sanitizer to volunteers as it is available but encourage our volunteers to bring their own. Volunteers should not touch their face or cell phone while preparing or handling food - if they need to do so, they should sanitize their hands again. We also ask that everyone wear gloves and masks while engaging in their activities. Gloves and masks are provided by Out of the Garden Project but we also encourage volunteers to bring their own masks if they desire to do so.
We ask all volunteers with any significant cough, fever, shortness of breath, or other flu-like symptoms to not volunteer at this time. We also are sorry to ask that no children under the age of 16 volunteer at our Fresh Mobile Markets at this time.
If you would like to volunteer but the sign up is full, please contact us at [email protected] to see if we can fit you in!
