FJCC Family Promise
This is our 9th time hosting Family Promise at the FJCC! We will be hosting families from August 4th thrugh August 11th. Family Promise is an organization that our former Rabbi Jaffe held close to his heart, and as such, we are honoring his memory, as well as fulfilling his dream, by continuing to have the FJCC act as a host congregation. We need your help to make this work!
Family Promise is a network of faith-based groups that provide shelter for temporarily homeless families in Hunterdon County as there are no homeless shelters in our county. Host congregations provide sleeping accommodations, dinner, breakfast & lunch (on weekends) and supplies. During the day, the families go to the day center at Family Promise, or off to work, and return to our site around 5 pm. The guests leave in the morning around 7:00 am to 7:30 am. We will host up to 4 families or 14 people. This number depends on how many folks are with Family Promise during our hosting week.
We ask FJCC members to sign up for a volunteer slot or to make a meal. FJCC members who volunteered in the past expressed gratitude that they were able to help and share in the experience. Thank you in advance for your kindness. Please email Alisa with any questions at [email protected]. Warm regards, your FJCC coordinators: Amy Marshall, Alisa Grossman and Josy Kestenbaum.
