in 2018, our US Bishops elevated the sin of Racism to a life issue.
RACISM IS A LIFE ISSUE! And it's time to do our part to end it.
Before we come to the communion table, we first confess that we have not loved God and our neighbors with our whole hearts. In other words, before we can receive the joy of reconciliation with God and one another, we must first tell the truth about what we have done and left undone.
Because racism is a fierce, ever-present, challenging force, that has structured the thinking, behavior, and actions of individuals and institutions since the beginning of U.S. history, it is impossible to deconstruct it and work toward racial healing and reconciliation without first acknowledging the truth of our history.
In this course we will explore this history and the economic systems, public policies, cultural norms, and hidden biases formed by it that empower some and oppress others. We will do all of this through the lens of our faith and learn how our faith informs our response to the racial inequities we face today.
This course will begin the week of April 12 via Zoom and will be continue for 9 weeks. It will be offerend on both Monday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 pm and Tuesday mornings from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm.
Thank you for your interest in dismantling systemic racism, a critically important life issue.
