EACH PARTICIPATING FAMILY IS TO SIGN UP FOR AT LEAST 2 VOLUNTEER SLOTS!
*WE ARE STILL AWAITING FINAL CONFIRMATION FROM WHS AROUND FIELD AVAILABILITY, ANY CHANGES and YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED*
Here’s a run-down of each of the jobs on home game days, where you need to be and at what time. If you have questions about any of the following, please see your Program Coordinator.
Gate Greeter: We collect donations from those entering our field. Our entrance fee is a $3 donation for each adult and $1 per child. This job consists of sitting at the front gate, welcoming spectators from Wells and the team we are playing that day, and asking them if they would like to make a donation to our Program. If you have younger children with you on game day, this is a great job since they can help you meet and greet.
Snack Shack: The Snack Shack is an important part of our fundraising efforts and there are many ways to help: Setting up prior to the game, working in the shack for a time during the game, bringing in baked goods or hot food for sale, volunteering to help pick up supplies and food prior to games or the day of (for example, picking up the pizzas on a game day), or cleaning up after the game. The goal this year is to have as many people as possible help out so that the burden of the concession work does not fall to a few mothers who then do not get to watch their sons and daughters on the field. Anyone who signs up to help in the snack shack will be trained and is guaranteed to have a blast working on game day! (Please note: no one under 18 is allowed in the WHS concession stand.) Shifts for snack shack are typically broken by half; your Volunteer Coordinator will have detailed information about the shifts for your Program.
* "A" Game parents should volunteer for the "B" Game shifts and "B" Game parents should volunteer for "A" Game *
Tower Announcer, Scorekeeper, and Spotter: These three individuals run the score board and the PA system. They are responsible for announcing the plays, keeping the official score, and running the music and all league announcements during the game. Adults only are allowed in the Tower. The hardest part of this job is paying attention at ALL times, but the great thing about it is you get a bird’s eye-view of each game!
Field Cleanup: Following the last home game for each program, volunteers are needed to make sure we leave the field the way we found it. We are looking for at least two people to help by picking up any garbage left in the stands or left near the player’s bench. These people are also needed to empty the trash barrels and help load the trash bags into a truck and unload into the HS dumpster. Any field banners owned by WOYFCA also need to be removed from the fence at the end of all home games and placed in the snack shack storage hallway.
Chains and Down Marker: These individuals run the chains and down marker during the game and are considered neutral bystanders working under the direction of the game referees, which means there is no cheering for our side! While this could be difficult for some, if you can be neutral, it is a great way to get the best field seat in the house and to learn a lot about how the game is played. Volunteers for these jobs should meet referees at the Snack Shack 15 minutes before game time.
Game Photographer: Calling all photographers! We want your pictures and we want YOU to have access to the best shots. Anyone who signs up for this volunteer position will have an all-access pass to anywhere on the fields, including the Tower. The only thing we ask in return is that you provide photos for our Woyfca website and photo sharing website.
SEASON LONG VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Please contact your team's coordinator for the following full season donation based opportunities:
-Cut Orange Slices for all home and away games
- Nut-free (not processed with nuts) for all home and away games
*Your coordinator can give you more information on the amount needed to supply the team.
