Powderhorn Empty Bowls
Each year, Powderhorn Empty Bowls organizes volunteers to assist at our PPNA-sponsored booth at the Powderhorn Art Fair. This year the Art Fair is celebrating its 27th Anniversary and Powderhorn Empty Bowls is celebrating our 12th Anniversary at the Park! Join us on Saturday August 4 and Sunday, August 5 as we kick off our pot making for our annual event in November.
At the Art Fair, potters volunteer to throw pots at our booth with clay that we provide; volunteers assist at potters' booths and at our booth, which is right near the Powderhorn Park building, to talk to fair-goers about Powderhorn Empty Bowls and spread the word about our Event and its important work in the neighborhood.
Powderhorn Empty Bowls is an annual Event (Friday, November 2, 2018 this year and always the first Friday in November) which combines art, food, and community. All year long, potters donate bowls for our Event; our soup committee works hard to plan the food for the Event; and at the Event, community members make a donation so they can select a bowl, choose a soup, some bread, and congregate with one another. All donations are made to hunger-fighting causes in our community. (In 2017 recipients were: Walker Community Church Tuesday night Meal Program, Youth Farm Powderhorn, Sisters' Camelot, Division of Indian Work Food Shelf, Full Cycle Youth Food Delivery Program, Jericho Road Powderhorn Food Shelf, Waite House Food Shelf, Living Spirit Wednesday night Meal Program, Powderhorn Park's Schools Out Meal Program, Soup for You!, and our PEB artist/pottery fellow, Cory Clemetson).
Thank you for signing up to volunteer with us at the Powderhorn Art Fair this year! We appreciate your support. You help to make this Event possible!
