Plant NOVA Natives campaign
Thank you for volunteering! No need to be shy if you are not an expert: if you know the basic reasons why landscaping with native plants is a good thing, you will know more than 95% of people who come to your table. And if they know more than you, you can have a nice chat and sign them up to volunteer! We have tons of suggestions for what to do at a booth on our website. Please look it over to decide what your best strategy will be for engaging folks at your particular event.
As Audubon-at-Home and VNPS are founding members of Plant NOVA Natives and critically important partners, we always include each others' materials at our booths, regardless of which organization makes the arrangements.
We do not have paid staff to deliver materials to these events, so we usually will plan to get them to you by mail. We can mail you a miniature banner and a small tabletop poster. You will want handouts which you can either print yourself or ask us to mail. Sign-up sheets for volunteering and for Audubon-at-Home are crucial. Please bring a copy of the Native Plants for Northern Virginia guide as a display. In some cases, you may be able to sell them, in which case we will figure out a way for you to get a case of them. In most cases, the host will provide the table and chairs, but it is wise to confirm that ahead of time.
