A-SPAN Dinner Serving
On the 4th Wednesday of each month, St. Ann volunteers will help serve the evening meal at A-SPAN's Homeless Services Center (HSC). Evening meal servers will serve the hot meal prepared by the A-SPAN chef to about 40 to 70 A-SPAN clients depending on the time of year. Please note that all meal servers must practice safe food handling practices and must be 18 or older.
Please plan on arriving around 5:30 p.m. to help set up the serving area (this includes making and setting out drinks, such as coffee, setting out condiments, and stocking napkins and utensils). Dinner is served to clients from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Other duties include: making, covering and setting aside dinner plates for late arrivals (A-SPAN staff will tell you the number of plates to make); storing any leftover food; and cleaning up the serving area.
The shelter is located at 2020A N. 14th Street, Arlington, VA 22201. Enter through the 2020A entrance (there is no external signage). Buzz in once you are inside the first set of doors and someone will let you in remotely. Take the elevator to your right to the third floor and go down the short hall way to your right as you exit the elevator. There's a desk in the open space to your left where you should sign in and indicate that you are with the St. Ann group. Then take the elevator to the second floor and go to the dining area (which is to the left of the main desk).
Metered street parking or pay parking in the county lot across from the Courthouse is available. All parking is free after 6 p.m. The shelter is only a couple blocks from the Courthouse metro station.
