Burke Racquet Club Pickleball Party
Join us Saturday, February 23rd, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm for a fun adult potluck pickleball party at the Burke Racquet & Swim Club, 6001 Burke Commons Rd, Burke, VA.
Bring food to share (an hors d'oeuvre, main dish, snack or dessert, and your own drinks (alcohol is permitted). Arrive any time after 6pm. Space is limited to the first 60 players to sign up for open play.
Sign up only one participant per slot. When the Sign Up is full, email Karen Pearson to be added to a Wait List. If you have signed up and learn you can not attend, contact Helen at [email protected] ASAP.
The cost is $15 per player payable when you arrive. CASH ONLY (exact amount appreciated). Non-playing guests are welcome at no charge.
Special Invitation to Beginners: Sign up for a special instructor-led Introduction to Pickleball training session from 7:10pm - 8:10pm on Pickleball Court 1. Class size is limited to 6 participants. After the session, Pickleball Court 1 is designated for beginners and new players during the Open Play. The fee is $25 per person ($10 fee for your instructor and $15 for the open play session following your lesson) CASH ONLY - exact amount appreciated).
6:00pm to 6:55pm: Check-in, socialize and eat while 8 pickleball courts are being taped.
6:00pm to 6:55pm: Court Taping Volunteers. Please sign up to tape the courts so we can start playing ASAP. The courts will open as soon as all the courts are taped and nets are assembled.
7:00pm: All players report to Pickleball Court 3 for Welcome and Overview
7:10pm to 8:10pm: Instructional session on Court 1
7:10pm to 9:45pm: Open play on Courts 2-10 with courts designated by skill level.
Format: First four players play one game to 11 and then leave the court if others are waiting to play. Players waiting to play place their paddles next to the pickleball net where they want to play.
Courts 1: Novice players (Court available at 8:10pm)
Courts 2-6: 3.0-3.5 Advanced Beginner and Intermediate players
Courts 7-10: 4.0 and above advanced players
9:40pm: Cleanup begins: Pull up tape and break down nets. Please volunteer to help.
10pm: Time to go home. Please leave the club by 10pm.
Let's continue to show our thanks by bringing a food or personal item to donate to ECHO, a nonprofit community organization helping people in the Springfield/Burke area.
Suggested food items include:
- low sodium canned tuna, soup, and/or vegetables (e.g., beans)
- low sodium tomato products (diced, paste and sauce) and low sugar cereal
Suggested personal items include shampoo, shaving cream, razors, bar soap, toothbrushes/paste and men's and women's deodorants.
