Volunteer Sign Up 2019

The 2019 Streets Alive! Festival will be Sunday, September 22rd from 1:00-4:30 p.m.

The purpose of Streets Alive! is to provide an event for Lincoln and Lancaster County residents of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities that promotes physical activity and healthy eating. We anticipate 4,000-5,000 participants will traverse the 2 mile route of city streets (closed to motorized traffic) on foot, bicycle, tricycle, stroller, skateboard, and wheelchairs to enjoy and engage with about 140+ exhibitors, entertainers, and fitness instructors.

With a staff of just 8, the event would not be possible without the numerous individuals and organizations who generously volunteer their time! Volunteer opportunities are broken into 1.5-2 hour segments throughout the day and vary greatly. We appreciate people utilizing skills of photography/videography, conversation, organization, and coordination, to make the event a success. If you possess another skill you don't see listed that you think would benefit the event, or if you have any questions, please contact Suzi Stout at 402-430-9940 or sstout@healthylincoln.org. Set-up Crew (20)

So much to do before the event! Help set up tables, chairs, information booths, pop up canopy tents and stages. Assist with placement of signage. Moderate lifting will be involved.

Exhibitor Assistants (18)

Assist exhibitors in finding their tables and getting set up. You may be asked to move barricades to allow access to the route for set-up and/or assist in carrying exhibitor materials to their tables. (within 1 block)

 
11:30am - 1:00pm  

Exhibitor Assistants (18)

Assist exhibitors in finding their tables and getting set up. You may be asked to move barricades to allow access to the route for set-up and/or assist in carrying exhibitor materials to their tables. (within 1 block)

 
1:00pm - 3:00pm  

Runners (5)

Check in with information booths & exhibitors along the route to determine needs. You may be asked to distribute water, materials, etc. You will need a bike and helmet. A bike trailer may be helpful to carry materials, but is not required.

 

The Great & Powerful Oz: Information Booths (10)

Be the all-knowing, all-powerful hot spot at one of our 4 information booths to assist exhibitors, entertainers, and participants in finding their way. You'll also be an access point for anyone to reach one of the event producers if needed.

 

Backstage Pass (8)

Assist at an entertainment, performance, or fitness site to make sure they have everything they need for their set.

 

Fun-O-Meter (6)

Survey participants, exhibitors, entertainers, businesses and even other volunteers to find out what they think of the event.

 

Hashtag Hero (4)

Post pictures and comments from the day. Chat, tweet, post and click away!

 

Inflatables (6)

Help us ensure the safety of our participants while they bounce away in our exciting inflatable obstacle course and three bounce houses.

Clean-up Crew (18)

That's a wrap! Help take down information booths, canopy tents, load up tables and chairs, pull signs, and pick up any trash left from the event.
