Choose a date and show up to get started
“The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for ourselves." -Helen Keller
Thank you for your interest in joining the volunteer team at the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center. This first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend a New Volunteer Orientation & Dog Safety Class. Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to volunteer at the shelter and that by becoming a volunteer, you are committing to volunteering a minimum of 4 hours per month for a minimum of 6 consecutive months here at the shelter. Additional information about our volunteer program can be found on our website: https://dogs.franklincountyohio.gov/Volunteer/Volunteer-FAQs.
Due to the extremely high volume of demand for these orientations, and the length of time it takes to train new volunteers, there are no waitlists. Additionally, these orientations are purposely overbooked, which accounts for people not showing up. If an orientation is full, we are not able to add you to it. Please sign up for the next available orientation. We understand the frustration in having to wait and thank you for your patience.
Please do not sign up for multiple spots. Only one sign up spot per person. If you sign up for more than one spot, your additional spot will be deleted. If you are not longer able to attend the orientation you signed up for, please remove yourself to allow others to sign up.
Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have at the email provided below. I look forward to seeing you at the next orientation!
