Being a Lector;
A lay person trained in reading scripture who is appointed by the clergy person in charge of the congregation to read lessons or lead the prayers of the people. The term is from the Latin, "to read." A lector may also be known as a reader. The lector reads from the ambo (lectern)
Thank you for your volunteering to be a lector. Please arrive at the church 20 minutes before worship begins and stop by the vesting room to let the clergy know you are there.
Thank you, too, for taking the time to prepare carefully. If you need help with pronunciation, feel free to call our clergy but we encourage you to check on line with http://netministries.org/resources/resource-pronunciation-guide .
You can also find the readings at http://www.lectionarypage.net Make sure to know if we are reading Track I or Track II
Frieda our Parish Administrator emails the readings out no later than Thursday afternoon to the readers.
Thank you for helping to lead worship in this way.
