Kick Board Distributor/Collector (2)

Distribute kick boards to the kayakers on the Irmo side during their meeting around 7:15am and then collect them as they finish on the Lexington side. Coordinator: Nickie Nickles

Assist with clean up at the end of the event. Includes taking down signs, loading any left over snacks, drinks, items left by swimmers and other supplies.

 

Race Bag Transport (3)

3 trucks needed to transport swim bags from Irmo side back to Lexington side. Then unload the bags at the bag check in. Check for any towels or miscellaneous items left on Irmo side. Coordinator: Jay and Lisa Baker

Lane Line Pick Up and Return (2)

Volunteer needs to have a truck to pick up 2 pole stands & lane lines for finish chute. Poles & lane lines stored at Cubesmart Storage Unit on Old Cherokee Road. Need to bring to the Lex. side of dam on Friday at 5 and return the items on Sat.

Awards & Certificates (2)

Need volunteer to have awards picked up and engraved. Create certificates for 1st place for each category. Deliver awards/certificates to HS coaches or mail certificates/awards to non LHS/RBHS participants. (Mailing to be covered by event fees.)

 

Kayakers (50)

Kayakers are needed to guide, lead, and follow swimmers across lake to keep swimmers on 2-mile course. Experienced kayakers, please. Must provide their own kayak, paddles and life jacket. Coordinator: Kay Dyar @ [email protected]

Nurse/Medical Personnel Station (2)

In the event someone is pulled off of the water, a medically experienced individual will be stationed on the Irmo side at the dock to help get the swimmer to either EMS (which is onsite) or to the coordinator for help. Coordinator: Jessica Whetstone

Spotter (2)

Will speak to boaters at the boat landing to request waiting for signal to enter water. Must coordinate with referee on dock and Lex Cty Sheriff Marine Patrol boat before letting a boater into the water. Coordinator:

Bus Assistance (4)

Assist in getting each group on the bus after meeting on the beach for swim instructions. Account for all swimmers getting on the bus. Check bus after final delivery to Irmo side for any garments, swim bags, googles, etc...

Volunteers needed to write short thank you note to volunteers who do NOT have a swimmer. (i.e. Power Squadron boaters, Sail Club boaters, Law enforcement, etc.) This can be done the day of the event while waiting on your swimmer.

Concession Stand Station (2)

Coordinator will pick up Chick-fil-a biscuits and coffee at 6:45 am from Chick-fil-a. Then bring them to the concession shelter on the Lexington side of the Dam where you will sell the biscuits and coffee until gone. Coordinator: Stacy Hewson

To drive the kayaker back to pick up there car at Irmo Boat landing so they can return to come get their kayak vs. paddling all the way back. Coordinator: Stewart Nickles

 

Photographer/ Parent Willing to Take Pictures (5)

Take pictures covering all aspects from registration to finish. We need several people to take pictures of ALL swimmers and volunteers throughout the event and then be willing to download them to a dropbox or share through google drive.

Swim Bag Check In/Out Station (4)

Be responsible for swimmer's bag by either collecting from the swimmer or off the transport truck. Organize bags according to swim groups. Only swimmer can pick up his/her bag. Must verify # on swimmer's arm with # on swim bag. Located on Lex. Side.

Late Entry Registration Station (2)

Finish Line Set Up/ Breakdown (3)

On Friday at 5 pm assist with securing sign at the finish line. Need someone to open the cable to hook the lane lines to which requires swimming out to it. Also asking the same person on Saturday to unhook and put the cable back.

 

Tailgate Tents (3)

We are in need of 3 tents to set up on the beach for the marking station. They need to be set up by 7:15 am and can be taken down once the swim has started.

To monitor cars coming in to make sure they understand this is a private event and the park is not open to the public. Bring a chair to sit in. Needed from 9-11:30. Can do 1 hour shifts. Just put the time you can help in the comment section.
