At long last, our congregation will be returning to an in-person Religious Education program for youth in grades K-12. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, youth will start in the service, and then be excused to join their volunteer RE teachers and engage in group lessons that help them understand and appreciate our shared UU values. For now, as our program rebuilds, we will have all youth together in a "one room schoolhouse" model. On the other Sundays, youth will stay in the service with their adults.
Our RE program is volunteer-run and that means WE NEED YOU! The youth growing up in this congregation rely on us all to help guide and educate them about the values we hold. Look over the roles below and choose a few Sundays to help out. Lesson plans and materials will be provided to those teaching.
Volunteer Roles (Needed on dates indicated):
"Deputy DRE" - (On Friday or Saturday prior to an RE Sunday - please arrange with office staff) Make copies, set up rooms, locate/purchase supplies (may require reimbursement). (On Sunday of RE) Review for adequate volunteers on the morning of RE, fill in to teach if needed, make final decision to cancel if needed (and put up signage). Require background check and proof of COVID vaccination.
RE Teaching - Two adults/group. Implement provided session plans, using provided materials. Take attendance. Facilitate fun and connection. Clean up classroom, put away materials, submit attendance. Requires clear background check and proof of COVID vaccination.
