Prayer and Fasting for Unity and Restoration

Dear brothers and sisters of ACCCN EM,

As many of you know, our church is experiencing unprecendented challenges to its peace and unity. Despite the tremendous pain and sorrow we are all feeling, let us not lose hope in the Lord who leads us through the valley. Not only does the Lord lead us, he invites us to draw near to him through prayer and fasting. This spiritual discipline is designed to strengthen the believer's faith and intimacy with the Lord. I once heard it said about fasting, "your physical hunger for food should awaken your spiritual hunger for Christ!"

Over a period of 40 days (Jan 20 - Feb 28), the church leaders are humbly inviting everyone to fast and pray as a congregation. You may sign up for as many timeslots as you'd like. The basic idea is to fast the meal you've selected, and use that mealtime to pray for the church.

During your time of prayer, please do pray as the Spirit leads. In addition, here are a few general topics of prayer:

• Deep humility before God and one another
• Individual and corporate repentance
• Forgiveness and reconciliation between brothers and sisters
• Restoration of unity and flourishing of ministry

Finally, let us hope for the Lord to grant us the vision of Psalm 133:1 which says, "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!"
