Instrument Petting Zoo

Instrument Petting Zoo Sunday, April 7, 2019

Last Instrument Petting Zoo for this year!

The Instrument Petting Zoo will be held at the Kennedy Center, but we will meet for carpool at LBSS.  LBSS Band & Orchestra students will be showing children how to play instruments.  Students do not need to bring their instruments or mouthpieces or bows etc.  Instruments and other items will be provided by the Kennedy Center.  Please bring money to eat in the KC Cafe, or a sack lunch.  Please wear your LBSS Band or Orchestra Polo and khakis.  We will meet at Lake Braddock Door 14, at 10:45, do the Petting Zoos before the first show and between the two scheduled shows, and return to Lake Braddock.  We will also need several parent volunteers to drive the students to the Kennedy Center.  Students and parents will be able to attend the concerts space permitting.  Students, this is a good way to earn service hours for school or tri-M hours, see a great show for free, and encourage young musicians!  Please, students: write in the comments section of the sign up which instruments you are able to demonstrate (not just the one you routinely play).  Parent Volunteers: please write in the comments section of the sign up how many students may ride safely in your car.

Concerts are at 2 pm and 4 pm preceded by Petting Zoos at 1 pm and 3 pm.

The Kennedy Center is looking forward to continue working with the Lake Braddock students again this season and is excited that orchestra will be joining in! LBSS students always do such a great job with wonderful attitudes! We appreciate the support that the parents give to make their student's participation possible.  This takes up about 4-5 hours of the day, but parents are welcome to stay for the zoo and concert, or drop people off and return to pick up at the end of the event.  I will have discounted parking passes available for the drivers at door 14 the morning of, please bring $8 to pay for the discounted parking.
