Sack Summer Hunger
Each summer, FUMC Coppell partners with Metrocrest Social Services to provide food each week to children who are on the free or reduced lunch program during the school year. These are children and families who live in the Coppell school district (Coppell, south Lewisville, west Carrollton, Valley Ranch and North Irving). In the summer of 2019, we served 161 children from 59 families over 12 weeks.
Every Saturday morning from late May to August, volunteers deliver sacks with a week’s supply of food to each family’s door. There are two ways to volunteer: help pickup food at Metrocrest or deliver food to families.
If you are volunteering to help with food pickup, please meet at FUMC Coppell at 8:30 am in order to arrive at Metrocrest at 8:45 am. Need: (6) large SUVs, trucks, cars, etc. (Please sign up for only one slot per vehicle)
If you are volunteering to help with delivery, please meet at FUMC Coppell at 9:15 am. We will then sort food into vehicles. Each route will take approximately 60-90 minutes. Need: (18) vehicles/teams. (Please sign up for only one slot per team)
