Hello, fellow PTS members:
The High Holy Days are around the corner and we’d love you to join us in fulfilling the mitzvah of providing hospitality for each other. Thank you for doing this meaningful and connecting work that strengthens our community and makes everyone feel welcome at PTS.
Please sign up for one of the 3 following roles:
Foyer Greeters (Front Doors/Foyer) - welcome people at the entrance of PTS with a “Shanah Tovah” and a smile. Help answer questions, direct people without their tickets to staff who can assist them, and guide people to the appropriate service location. Weather permitting, some greeters might be outside. Greeters are asked to help us create a safe and secure environment by being aware of their surroundings and reporting any unusual activity to appropriate staff. The FOYER GREETER role runs from 30 minutes before service start until 10 minutes after the service start time. Families welcome!
Room Ushers (Greeting, Seating, Doors) - in the service location, help people find seats, and, when needed, help them to their seats. Help people without a prayer book to obtain one from the lobby. Once the service begins, help make sure that people who need to enter or exit do so in a way that is both respectful of the congregation as well as sensitive to their own physical abilities. The ROOM USHER role starts from 30 minutes before the service starts and runs throughout the entire service you have selected. Room Ushers will have special seating locations to assist in their tasks.
Shift Leader: We need at least one person at each service to be the "point person" for the volunteer team. Shift leader will help greet volunteers, make sure they have their name tags on, and direct them to the appropriate locations for their shifts. Shift Leader should arrive 30 minutes before designated service and can sit down 10 minutes after service begins.
NOTE: If you want to sign up for a given service and the slots are full, consider yourself on our unofficial Hospitality Team. Please make an effort to introduce yourself to people and welcome newcomers to our community. The more, the merrier!
Thank you for sharing your time, spirit and joy with our community.
