Westwood Area Band Boosters
THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!
A significant portion of the Band Boosters' revenue comes from concession sales at varsity, JV, and freshman Warrior football games. In exchange for this money-making opportunity, the district relies on us to provide great service to our student and parent football fans. Your time and help directly support our band programs and provide an important service to the RRISD community.
Westwood home games are played at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex on Parmer Lane or at Dragon Stadium on the Round Rock High School campus.
Except for the Homecoming game, we plan to open 2 stands at each varsity game, 1 on the Home side and 1 on the Visitors side. For the Homecoming game we'll open 3 stands, 2 on the Home side and 1 on Visitors. Please sign up for any stand you prefer, but we reserve the right to move some volunteers depending on business needs.
SECTION NIGHTS: Each varsity game has been designated as Section Night for certain sections:
- Thursday August 29 (Kelly Reeves): Alto Saxophones and Flutes
- Friday September 20 (Dragon Stadium): Clarinets and Trombones
- Friday October 4 (Dragon Stadium): Horns and Euphoniums
- Friday October 25 (Kelly Reeves): Low Reeds, Percussion and Trumpets - HOMECOMING
- Friday November 8 (Kelly Reeves): Color Guard and Tubas
This is a great opportunity to get to know the other parents in your section. If you can't make it to your section's designated night, though, that's ok! Feel free to sign up for other games.
October 19th is Marching Band UIL. Westwood will be hosing this year and we will be staffing the stands as well.
VARSITY SET-UP and CLEAN UP CREWS: Before and after every game we'll need a team of 3 volunteers per stand to come in and set up the stand before the game and then come back to the stand near the end of the game to clean up. In between you are free to watch the band (and the football game).
The freshman and JV games are smaller but equally important. All games are played at the Warrior Bowl on the Westwood campus. Games are on Wednesday or Thursday evenings.
In addition to the volunteers who sign up here, each stand must have a Stand Manager. Stand Managers will be scheduled separately.
Stand Managers supervise the set up and clean up their stand as well as the operations while it is open. They will not need to stay later or come earlier than the rest of the volunteers.
On the weekends following the regular season, RRISD hosts a number of playoff games. Concessions for these games are jointly managed by the district's 5 band booster organizations, and it's a part of our commitment to the district that we do our fair share of the work, whether or not our kids are playing. On the bright side, these games are often HUGE money makers for us. The exact number, dates, times, and locations of the games won't be known until the end of the season. We'll send out a separate signup request for each playoff game as it's scheduled.
THINGS TO KNOW
- Please plan to stay for the entire time slot. Setup and cleanup are pretty easy if everyone's there to help.
- PLAN TO WORK THROUGH HALFTIME. It's our busiest time of the game. There will be plenty of other opportunities to watch the show.
- Children under the age of 13 are not allowed in the stand.
