RHLS Garden Visit Volunteers 2021-2022
The RHLS Learning Garden is a curriculum based, multi-sensory, hands-on experience designed to enrich the student's knowledge and appreciation of God's creation. Garden curriculum supports what is taught in the classroom. For example, 4th graders learn about California so they plant a California Agriculture garden and learn by touch, sight, smell and taste. What a way to reinforce the lesson content in the garden and in their classroom!!!
There is a Fall garden and a Spring garden. Both have planting, observation and harvest visits. You can sign up for 1 or more teachers or use the TABS above to sign up for other grades. It is very helpful if you sign up for all 6 visits for a teacher for continuity since each visit is based on what was taught and experienced during prior visits. However, if that is not possible, please sign up for any visit(s) you can attend.
You do not need to have gardening experience to volunteer but if you do please let us know. We will need 2 volunteers for each class for planting and observation visits. We will need 4 volunteers for the January Harvest visit and March Craft visit.
We encourage grandparents or other relatives to participate. It's a great way to have a wonderful experience with your child or grandchild (the kids are so proud when their parent, grandparent, etc. are at the visit with them!). it's by far the best way to earn your Family Service Hours!
