Juneau DDF Team
No experience necessary! We will train you quickly and professionally!
Thank you for your interest in supporting the students of our state! The students cannot reap the rewards of this activity without the support of people like you. In fact, if you know others who might be interested in volunteering, please direct them our way. Again, we understand the value of your time, and greatly appreciate your service.
Please help us make this year's ASAA/First National Bank Alaska State Drama, Debate, & Forensics Tournament a success. To do this, just select which time slot/s you can fill to judge events. If you can do any back to back slots it would be greatly appreciated. It is difficult to fill all judging openings.
When you sign up to judge, we ask that you please treat it as a firm commitment to judge during that timeslot. In other words, if you put your name on the schedule, we are operating under the assumption that you will be there during that timeslot. Also, we ask that you arrive for your first round of each day 15-20 minutes prior to the schedule start of the round. This ensures that you have time to find the judges' check in table (aka - ballot table), review any judging materials you like, ask any questions you have, and find the room in which you have been assigned to judge.
Please e-mail Shawn if you have any questions about signing up to judge.

For those who are apprehensive about judging or simply need a refresher on the expectations of, role of, and duties of a judge, we have two resources for you:
1) In-person Training - this is mandatory to insure quality control (45 minutes only!)
We will offer judge training sessions prior to this year's state tournament (See the schedule below for your Tuesday or Wednesday option). You may sign up for those through this signup.
Please email Jamie if you do not feel you need to attend a judges training based on your experience. Keep in mind that I need to be able to update all judges about any potential rule changes that have been made to any events.
Jamie's email is: [email protected]
2) Web-based Materials
We have provided a number of resources for judges on my personal website, My Debate Resource. You are welcome to review those materials at your convience, as they relate to judge training and logistics for the State tournament.
Key for the sign-up: Debate rounds only have debates; Speech and Drama rounds have acting events and speeches, but no debates; Drama tiers only have Drama events.
On behalf of the Drama/Debate team, our school, our community, and ASAA,
Thank you in advance!!
