STA World Feast Crafts
Welcome to the World Feast Craft Sign up page!
We are looking for volunteers to prepare an art or craft that is representative of a culture or country! Did you have a favorite craft growing up from your home country? Do you have a traditional art your family brought with them to keep your culture alive? Maybe you would like to explore your ancestral origins and share what you find, or is there a country you simply admire and would love to represent? We would love for you to be a part of World Feast Crafts!
What we need is for volunteers to sign up for an hour (or more) during the feast and prepare an art or craft. We typically see 10-20 children come through an hour so you would need to be prepared for about 20 projects for every hour you work. We will supply the common materials such as crayons, markers, glue, scissors, etc, just let us know what you need.
For example, last year at a table we made Swedish Dala Horses. The volunteer bought the tagboard, drew the outline and cut out 20 horses. At the feast, we had the markers ready there to decorate them! Pretty simple!
When you sign up, let us know what country you would like to represent, what craft you are sharing and what supplies you would need. From past experience, things that are too wet with paint and glitter often get left behind, so things that can walk away with the creators are best!
If you would like to participate but do not have any ideas, let me know, I can help! Also, Google searches and the website Pinterest are awesome places to get ideas as well as the craft book sections at the library!!! Masks, flags, jewelry, lanterns, calligraphy, musical instruments, even maps can be good simple projects. Remember, you will be working with children as young as 2-3 all the way to high schoolers! Adults often like to join in, too.
We are very excited to have you! This is a great and fun volunteer project. Remember, if you have a student looking for volunteer hours, they are very welcome but we do require an adult to be with them!
