Marching Band Parents 2018
All VOLUNTEERS must register as a Wake County school volunteer every year.
VOLUNTEER DRESS CODE: All volunteers should wear Khaki bottoms (pants, shorts, capris) and a black shirt (preferably Apex Band logo spirit-wear).
VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: If you sign up, please be sure to follow through with your commitment! IMPORTANT: If you sign up to volunteer, and you must cancel less than one week before event - please send an email to the committee chairperson:
TRUCK DRIVER VOLUNTEERS: To volunteer to drive a Penske truck carrying Marching Band equipment to and from the competitions - please e-mail the Transportation Chair: [email protected].
PIT CREW VOLUNTEERS: The “Pit” (aka Front Ensemble) is comprised of the stationary percussion instruments positioned along the front sidelines. These instruments include several types of large xylophones, bass drum, electric
piano, and some miscellaneous cymbals and other hand-held percussion instruments. All items either have wheels or are light enough to be carried. The Pit Crew is a group responsible for getting the pit instruments and drum major podium from the Band Room, to the performance venue, and back to the Band Room. Generally, 6-9 Pit Crew members are needed for each football game or band competition. For more information about the Pit Crew Volunteers: http://www.apexhighband.org/uploads/2/3/2/6/23266620/pit_crew_description_2017-2018.pdf
FOOTBALL GAME VOLUNTEERS: All volunteers for FOOTBALL GAMES must purchase their own ticket for admission to the game.
If your committee has enough volunteers, please consider volunteering for a committee in need of people!! Also, please feel free to organize a carpool to the competitions!
Committee Specific questions should be addressed with the chairperson of the committee. There may be some small changes as the season progresses - for instance if we have a double header - the number of volunteers may change - we will do our best to keep everyone informed of changes as they occur!!
About finding your place in the band program: the best thing you can do is think about what you enjoy doing and find a good fit for the talent you already have. There is a place for everyone, and everyone will find their place.
Regardless of what committee or how you choose to participate – keep in mind, there is a method to the madness - 99.9% of the time there is a reason we do things one way and not another, please be patient and willing to learn!
NO COMMITTEE OR SIGN-UP NEEDED: Come to the school before and after football games and competitions and help load and unload the trailers/trucks!! We can never have enough help loading and unloading uniform racks, pit equipment, props, etc.
Can't be at competitions or football games? There is still plenty to do:
