Apex High School Band - Committee Signups

The Apex High School Band Program includes over 200 students participating in a variety of bands under the direction of Daniel Jarvis. Jazz ensembles, a Pep-Band, an award-winning Marching Band and award winning Concert Bands and a Wind-Ensemble. The Marching Band travels the state and beyond representing Apex High School in marching band competitions.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please volunteer to join one of the many Committees that help our Band Program run smoothly.

CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS CHAIRPERSON: OPEN - [email protected]

Seek out and secure corporate sponsorships, help with banner and obtain sponsor's logos for website

 

VISUAL ENSEMBLE CHAIRPERSON: OPEN

Coordinates parent volunteers involved with VE. Organizes communication with volunteers to take measurements and order uniforms

Help take measurements for VE outfits (late spring), assist with ordering uniforms/flags, organize embroidery for warm up suits (help with pick up and delivery), help with VE parent communication.

 

TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE – Chairperson: Michael O'Sullivan - [email protected] (10)

Vehicles/drivers needed to tow our props band trailer and drive the Penske Truck carrying PIT equipment to/from competitions. Also needed is a vehicle per competition that can tow the trailer (gas reimbursed).

 

SHOP WITH SCRIP CHAIRPERSON: OPEN - [email protected]

Coordinator for ShopWithScrip to work with student accounts to post proceeds and place orders for physical cards throughout the year

 

FORMALWEAR CHAIRPERSON: OPEN

Organize volunteers to take measurements for formalwear. Place formalwear orders and distribute

 

FORMALWEAR COMMITTEE – Chairperson: OPEN - [email protected] (3)

Help with measurements/distribution for concert attire tuxes and dresses for new and returning students.

 

PIT CREW COMMITTEE- Chairperson: Aurora Comanescu (20)

Volunteers needed to get the pit equipment on/off the field for football games (no travel) and competitions (travel to competition location). Parents also needed to get large instruments to parade route. YOU DON'T HAVE TO VOLUNTEER AT EVERY EVENT.

 

PROPS COMMITTEE – Chairperson: Peter Siddoway - [email protected] (20)

Design and build the props for the marching band show with guidance from Mr. Jarvis. Get the props to the field during games (no travel) and competitions (travel to competition location). YOU DON'T HAVE TO VOLUNTEER AT EVERY EVENT.

 

SEWING COMMITTEE – Chairperson: Candi King - [email protected] (5)

Assist with the visual appeal of the field show. Various levels of assistance include: Custom hemming, separated seams, light alterations in the VE uniforms, fixing tears in VE flags, etc.

 

SOCIAL COMMITTEE – Chairperson: Jacque Hughes - [email protected] (10)

Help with planning the social events for the band. Assist in planning Senior Gifts / Senior Night, Middle School Night, Homecoming Party, Band Banquet.

 

UNIFORM COMMITTEE – Chairperson: Peggy Rasp - [email protected] (10)

Help with all things UNIFORM. Iron Marching Band uniforms & fit the students for uniforms, marching shoes and track pants during band camp. During games, competitions and parades - assist with uniforms and plume and deplume the hats (put feathers in).

Football Games - Assist at the concession stand after the band's halftime performance and during 3rd quarter to distribute pre-ordered concession food to our band students.

MATTRESS SALE CHAIRPERSON: OPEN - [email protected]

Planned for September 18, 2021 -- Coordinator to organize and promote our annual Mattress Sale fundraiser.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL NIGHT COMMITTEE – Chairperson: Leanne Glasgow - [email protected] (5)

Help getting information (flyers/emails/blurbs) to the middle schools that feed Apex High for Middle School Night in the fall and Open Registration in the spring. Helping at Middle School Night, currently planned for October 8, 2021.
