Volunteering at Bon Appetit Meal Program
Bon Appétit offers a free meal, five nights a week, at Second Parish Congregational Church, 19 Crescent Street, Biddeford. Due to Covid, Bon Appetit may be serving by take out when necessary
Volunteers meet at South Church to Carpool at 2:50 and return home by 5 PM (take out nights) or 6 (when table service is possible)
Volunteer Job Description:
When you arrive, the first thing may be cleaning from food prepartion, setting tables, trash and sweeping, or even organizing the pantry. When it is near dinner time, your job depend on whether service will be by take out or at table:
For take out: You will help pack meals into to-go containers. Filled containers are placed in bags and arranged on a table near the door. Guests wait outside in a line with social distancing. They come in one at a time and get their meals. Masks are available, but not required while preparing and bagging the takeout boxes. Clean-up duties include a quick sweep near the kitchen and some trash pick-up.
For Table serice: You will help deliver meals to the guests at the tables. Guests will be steated in appropriately space groups. You will deliver drinks, appetizers, main courses and desterts to them at their tables. You may help to clear and clean table items.
There is some flexiblity on the time of your departure, so if you need to leave before all is put away, that is fine. Just let others know.
