Jefferson MRC & WSU Extension
***DATE CHANGE: Please note that the original planting date of Friday, September 23rd, has changed to Wednesday, September 28th***
On Wednesday, September 28th, the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee and WSU Extension are seeking volunteers to help plant a new rain garden behind the WSU Extension building (121 Oak Bay Rd) in Port Hadlock. Once established, this rain garden will help to collect and treat stormwater flowing from nearby roads, parking lots, and building rooftops before making its way to South Port Townsend Bay. For more information on how rain gardens function, see the WSU Rain Gardens website.
We would like volunteers to sign up for shifts, but feel free to come late or leave early if you need to! The shifts are from 9:30am–12pm, 12:30–3:30pm and 3:30-6:30pm. At the beginning of each shift we will provide an overview of the project and the plants, along with what we'll be doing. Refreshments will be provided, however, please bring plenty of water for yourself, and if you have them, gardening gloves, tools (e.g., spades, hand clippers and wheelbarrows), kneeling pads, and anything else you might need. Bring a friend or family member, or come on your own to meet others in the community who are working to steward our lands and waters!
Please select "Sign Up" next to your preferred time slot(s) then click on the "Submit and Sign Up" button below. For questions, contact Monica at [email protected]. Thank you! Date:
