Harbor Church/Trinity UMC Family Promise

Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Harbor Church and Trinity UMC are honored to collaborate to be a part of Family Promise (formerly WIHN) and provide the evening meal for families in transition who are staying at 3511 Frog Pond Place Apartments- OCTOBER 9-15.

Family Promise has returned to on-site, in-person dinners, hosted at the Family Promise Day Center.

WHEN: Dinner / Evening Hosting Time: 5:30 – 7pm

Volunteers should arrive to the day center around 5:30pm in order to turn on lights and set up for dinner. Families are to arrive to the day center no later than 5:45pm. This allows for families to help with set up and dinner, as well as getting their children comfortable and situated. Dinner should begin around 6pm

HOW:

Harbor Church will bring our own plastic bin with the supplies on the first day of their rotation (Sunday). Items in the bin will include paper plates, napkins, paper towels, and items like dish soap or other cleaning items. There are plenty of real silverware in the kitchen. As well as serving utensils and some serving dishes. There are plenty of plastic cups for adults and children. Volunteers are welcome to go in the supply room (back room) for any supplies FP may have if volunteers forgot something and need right away. Families are free and welcome to take leftovers after dinner each night.

There are plenty of games and toys in the playroom / study room (back of day center). Playing a game, helping with homework, or simply chatting after dinner is always encouraged (just like it was when hosting at the churches)!
Everyone should be finished and leaving the day center by 7pm. Families know they are to help clean up after dinner and the playroom before leaving. It’s not just a chore, it’s part of the program (being a part of a community and holding responsibility).

Property map, rules for the evening and reminders, will be placed on a bulletin board for everyone to see. There is a sign-in sheet for volunteers and one for families. There will also be a communication notebook for volunteers if they ever need to leave a concern, suggestion, or entry of an event. You are always welcome to call me Charlotte 406-671-3583
