Way Off Broadway Community Players
Show Synopsis
This wildly popular two-person play finds an exasperated playwright bemoaning the inadequacy of the actresses he’s been auditioning all day, only to be interrupted by one last actress who is seemingly the embodiment of everything he’s just complained about. She manages to get an audition, reading with the playwright, exploring his work of masochism and dominance, all while lightning flashes, thunder crashes, and the power shifts.

Character Breakdown
Vanda Jordan: female-identifying, age 20-40, any race. A struggling actress arriving late for an audition. Smart, powerful, sexy, cunning, and quite talented. Much more than she first appears. Vanda spends a significant portion of the play dressed in bra, panties, garter belt, stockings, and heels.
Thomas Novachek: male-identifying, late 20s-late 40s, any race. Well-read, exasperated, confident, and distracted. His goals and desires are a bit of an enigma. Thomas spends some portion of the play dressed in just his underwear.
Disclaimer
Way Off Broadway Community Players is committed to working in and creating a culture of consent. Actors must be comfortable in minimal clothing on stage, as both characters are in a state of undress down to their undergarments (bra & underwear) at various points during the play. There is no nudity required. We are working with a local Intimacy Director, Dr. Andy Grapko, and all intimacy will be choreographed collaboratively with the actors. We have also worked with the Austin-based SAFE Alliance's Expect Respect program to receive sensitivity and trauma training which was recorded and can be shared with cast and crew. The theatre company’s Whistleblower Policy will be available for review at auditions, and it will be reviewed again during the first rehearsal by one of the theatre company’s compliance officers. Any and all specific questions can be directed to Johnny Revicki at [email protected] and Nick Wigg at [email protected].
