OLMC Sunday Cathedral Soup Kitchen
OLMC serves the midday meal once a month now at the Cathedral Soup Kitchen located downtown behind the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. Each of these committments requires approximately 10 volunteers. However under the current conditions with the Coronavirus we need approximately 5 volunteers. We are requiring face mask both outside and inside the facility.
Typically volunteers arrive downtown at the soup kitchen by 11:30 am and finish by 3 pm. Again with current conditions with the Coronavirus we are needing help from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. As a team, we serve a meal and then work together to clean-up the kitchen and dining areas. Our theme is the 2nd Luminous Mystery - The Wedding Feast of Cana - "Do whatever He tells you."
Our guests range from the working poor, to the homeless, to drug addicts, to the mentally ill. Therefore, we suggest not bringing children under 10 years old. All younger children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Directions to the soup kitchen: Take Meridian south approximately 16 miles from OLMC. Turn left on 14th St, (located at the stoplight right before the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul). Turn right on Pennsylvania. Take next immediate right into the parking lot. You should be in a parking lot directly behind the Cathedral. Soup kitchen is the dark brown building on the right. Go inside the double doors, down the stairs and the kitchen is the 2nd door on your left.
Optional: Donations of the following items are always appreciated: toilet paper, paper towel, floor cleaning products, windex, and salt and pepper shakers.
