Lloyd EcoDistrict

NE Multnomah Pollinator Corridor Planting Day

Date: Thursday, February 24th 2022, 9am to 12pm

Background: Lloyd’s main Pollinator Corridor was designed in 2016, with Lloyd EcoDistrict – in partnership with Go Lloyd, City Repair, and Portland Parks and Recreation. By planting the corridor along the NE Multnomah bikeway, we established the country’s first official pollinator bikeway! Along NE Multnomah St. from NE 2nd to NE 15 exist 34 large concrete planters, creating a protected pollinator corridor bikeway across the Lloyd. Community partners installed the planters and planted native/hardy pollinator plants between 2016 & 2018. While many of the planters are filled with flowering pollinator species, some of the planters need to now be supplemented with a variety of native species. This is particularly the case after the summer heatwaves. Lloyd Community Association, Lloyd EcoDistrict, and volunteers from the community will gather in the winter to replenish these public planters with a mix of native Willamette Valley perennials. Portland Parks & Recreation horticulturists will be on-site to provide education about pollinators and help lead the planting event. Come help us green the Multnomah Street Planters! Learn about pollinator, native perennial plants, and local ecology.

What to Bring: All planting supplies will be provided. Please come wearing a face covering, closed-toed shoes, a filled reusable water bottle, and garden gloves (if you have a pair).
