St Johns: Weekly Readers

Directions for Sunday readers:

Thank you for your willingness to be a Sunday reader. We need two readers a week. Normally, one person does the three scripture readings and the other person does the psalm and the Prayers of the People.

In the service of Morning Prayer, a lay person may read the gospel. You would introduce that lesson by saying “A reading from the gospel of (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John)” and end with “The word of the Lord.”

Catherine Packard will send you the introduction for each reading. After reading the introduction, you will then say “A reading from __________”. At the end you will say “The word of the Lord”.

The person who reads the psalm should read the entire psalm. If there is someone else in your home who would like to join you in saying the second half of each verse with you, that’s fine.
After you have done the recordings, please send them to David Weir electronically by the Thursday before your Sunday. or email him at [email protected]
The videos can be recorded using your smart phone, PC, or Mac computer
The readers should upload their videos to a St Johns Google folder at the following link:

Readers should have a free Google account on which ever device (PC or Smart Phone) they are using for the upload. They will find the upload menu by clicking on the “+” sign. If there are any questions or problems they can contact David at: [email protected]
