The Prayers of the People are a powerful and deeply meaningful component of our weekly worship as a community. In them, we express our deepest desires for communion with God, and present our petitions to the Holy One on behalf of ourselves, our community, our nation, and the world.
POP are read from the Lectern.
Frieda our Parish Administrator emails the readings out no later than Thursday afternoon to the readers.
One who prays on behalf of another or others. An intercessor is one who prays an intercessor prayer. The term may indicate one who leads the prayers of the people, which are prayers of intercession (BCP, pp. 383-395). Jesus is known as the heavenly intercessor who prays for us. The hymn "Alleluia! sing to Jesus!" includes the phrase, "Intercessor, friend of sinners, earth's Redeemer, plead for me" (Hymns 460-461). See Intercession.
