The Gamm Theatre
Adapted by Joe Landry from the screenplay by Frances Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra, and Jo Swerling.
Directed by Damon Kiely
George, Mary, Zuzu, and the entire town of Bedford Falls come to life in this staged 1940s radio broadcast of Frank Capra’s holiday movie classic. With live sound effects and a handful of actors, the story of beleaguered building and loan owner George Bailey and his affable helper angel, Clarence, unfolds one fateful Christmas Eve as you’ve never seen it before. This captivating, life-affirming story is a holiday treat for the entire family!
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Gamm will regularly update its health and safety protocols. Before continuing your volunteer usher sign up, please read our full COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols by clicking HERE.
Please be aware, as we head into Season 38, The Gamm is continuing its previous vaccination policy - all ushers MUST be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have received at least one booster dose prior to their first ushering shift.
If you ushered for The Gamm during Season 37 and have already provided your vaccination information, you do NOT need to provide it again. If you are new to us, or are returning after an absence, please email a copy of your vaccination record (i.e. a photo of your vaccination card) to [email protected]. If you are unable to provide this information via email, please call (401) 723-4266 x 163 to make alternative arrangements for providing this information.
As of August 2022, The Gamm's masking policy for Season 38 is still evolving - we will annouce more information as soon as we have it, but for the moment, please assume you will need to be fully masked while at the theatre.
We encourage ushers to stay for the show if there are seats available on their performance date, but if the performance is sold out, please see the box office manager to make arrangements to see the show another time. If, for any reason, you cannot stay and see the show on the date you usher, your commitment will be one hour long - it will start at your call time and end when the curtain goes up. If you are staying for the performance on the date you usher, your commitment time will vary depending on the length of the performance.
Please anticipate delays due to traffic or weather, and adjust your schedule accordingly so that you are able to arrive on time for your call time!
If you have a conflict with a performance you signed up for, please cancel or swap your shift in SignUp Genius as soon as possible, but ideally at least 48 hours in advance of the performance date. If you have less than 48 hours notice, please cancel or swap your shift, but ALSO call the box office at (401) 723-4266 to let us know you will not be able to make your original shift.
Most usher roles require moderate to prolonged standing – if you have mobility concerns, please let us know in advance by contacting [email protected].
Please wear a plain white dress shirt and black slacks for men, or a plain white blouse and black slacks/skirt for women. White or cream colored sweaters and cardigans are also permitted. There are no exceptions to this dress code.
You can sign up for as many or as few dates as you would like - but please try to sign up for dates you believe you can feasibly do!!
Times listed are usher call times, curtain time is one hour later (i.e. usher call is 6:30 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. curtain and 1:00 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. curtain).
