Welcome, Ball Kids!
The USTA Pro Circuit serves as America's main pathway for men and women who seek to compete at the highest levels of professional tennis. It was formed in 1979 to provide additional competitive opportunities on American soil for players who aspire to earn the professional ranking points needed to enter the higher-level tournaments on the ATP and WTA pro tours.
The Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic is one of five USTA Pro Circuit women's events that are taking place in Texas this year … Austin, Lubbock, Tyler, and Waco.
All professional tennis tournaments require Ball Kids. The primary responsibility of a Ball Kid is to retrieve balls that land outside of the court or in the net and send them back to the Ball Kid Team Member who is feeding balls to the player who is serving.
This program is for kids between 3rd and 12th grade. No tennis experience is required. If you are interested in being a Ball Kid and sharing the court with some of the best up-and-coming women's tennis players, please sign-up today.
Volunteer Hours: All training hours and shifts count toward volunteer hours. The Fort Worth Tennis Classic benefits the non-profit HOPE Farm, a long-term leadership development program that guides at-risk boys without the benefit of a positive male role model in their homes. Since 1989, you have helped us serve over 250 at-risk boys and moms in Fort Worth, breaking the cycle of fatherless families.
Training: For all new Ball Kids, mandatory training is required. We will be offering training on Sunday, September 19 from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the TCU Bayard Friedman Tennis Center. Please contact Christina Allen if you have a conflict with training times.
Returning Ball Kids do not need to attend training and can show up on the day of their shift for a refresher.
Safety Guidelines: Due to the current Tarrant County Community Spread Level of "High Transmission," TCU now requires that face masks be worn in all indoor campus spaces to help protect the health and safety of our community. Our Tournament Director will continue to monitor public health efforts and make any necessary changes to maximize the safety of our Ball Kids.
Saturday Schedule: The TCU-SMU football game is Saturday, September 25, which may require us to alter our match start times to accommodate TV scheduling. We hope to keep the match times the same, but we would appreciate it if you could keep your Saturday schedule flexible. Parking passes will be provided on Saturday to allow access to the Tennis Center.
Uniform: Special tournament T-shirts and hats will be provided. You will need to wear white shorts or skirts of your choosing and white shoes.
You can find additional tournament details at Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic.
Please email Christina Allen with any questions.
We look forward to having you participate in this great event.
