St. Anastasia Parish Family Promise
St. Anastasia's Catholic Church is hosting a group of Family Promise families in the Little Church the week of May 19-26, 2019. Volunteers are needed in the following areas (Great opportunity for groups and service hours):
SET-UP AND BREAK-DOWN:
Assist with preparing and cleaning up the space; moving items in and out of storage; and creating a homey feel in the Little Church.
With a list that will be provided to you, shop for necessary groceries and supplies that are needed throughout the week. All expenses will be reimbursed.
Team Leader assists the volunteer coordinator by welcoming the families and overseeing the evening volunteers and scheduled activities.
Prepare dinner for the families. Most volunteers find it easiest to cook in their own home then drop off the prepared food to the church in the evening. If you know what you would like to prepare, please make a note in the "Comments" section of your sign-up. The Volunteer Coordinator will confirm with you the number of people to prepare food for and if there are any food preferences and/or allergies to consider.
Welcome the families when they arrive for the evening. You will help setup and serve the families dinner and eat with them to provide companionship and hospitality. Assist with clean-up and storage of any leftover food.
Provide companionship and diversions for the children who are staying with us. Games and toys are available at the Little Church, or bring your own ideas and materials! Certification through the Protecting God's Children program is required for this role.
These key volunteers spend the night at the Little Church with the families. Beds are provided and volunteers are encouraged to sleep, but still be available if needed by the families. The overnight volunteers also set out “grab and go” breakfast foods for the families in the early morning as they are preparing to leave for the day. Certification through the Protecting God's Children program is required for this role.
NOTES: Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Overnight Hosts must be certified through the Protecting God's Children program. To sign up for a workshop to become certified, go to Virtus online:
