Bucks County Opportunity Council
Fresh Connect Bucks County is a free farmer’s market bringing fresh, healthy food to our hungry neighbors in Bucks County. It returns to the same location on the same day at the same time each week, providing reliable and needed food to the 57,000 Bucks County residents facing hunger, 32% of whom are children. Fresh Connect is a collaboration of Bucks County Opportunity Council, Philabundance, Rolling Harvest Food Rescue and St. Mary Medical Center, with generous funding by United Way of Bucks County.
After several long months, BCOC is looking to start to bring some volunteers back to Fresh Connect!
However, we need you to be aware that there have been key changes to the Fresh Connect procedures. In response to the needs of the pandemic, Fresh Connect has been operating for more than 12 weeks as a drive-through, emergency food distribution. All volunteers will be trained on the NEW Fresh Connect model. Many things are now different, so you will need to be attentive to how the new model works. A lot more lifting is required- volunteers will be lifting heavy boxes into cars, directing traffic and other tasks. Shift times have changed, and volunteers are required to wear a mask for the entire shift.
We appreciate your commitment to BCOC’s mission, and your flexibility with the “New Fresh Connect”!
- Volunteers will help distribute food to community members, and clean up at the end of the shift.
- These events take place outside. Please wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes, and remain for the entire shift.
- Fresh Connect events operate rain or shine as long as the temperature is above 32 degrees and there is not severe weather. In the event of inclement weather, please call 215-345-8175 to find out if the site is operating.
- Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
Sign up below. You will receive a confirmation email the day prior to your shift. In the event of a cancelation, you will be notified via email.
