LAUNCH Van Rider / Monitor Spring 2019
Bus Riders Spring 2019
*PLEASE NOTE: THIS ROLE IS FOR THE LAUNCH (MIDDLE SCHOOLERS) VAN RIDER/MONITOR POSITION SPRING 2019 AND HAS SPECIFIC DETAILS AS TO PICK UP AND DROP OFF LOCATIONS OF BUS MONITORS - PLEASE BE SURE TO REVIEW TIME SLOT COMMENTS BEFORE SIGNING UP.
The bus is no exception to the rule of having two adults present at all times with children, so we need one adult rider with the driver every time the bus transports children. The bus rider will ensure all are aboard, maintain safety on the bus (seat belts, pencils put away, etc), and allow the driver to focus on driving. We use two buses, one bus capable of transporting 10 students+rider and one bus capable of transporting 13 students + rider. You can sign up for any day and for any ride (2:30, 3:30, or 6:00 pm).
Each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we pick up our children at Riley Elementary School, 1400 Indiana Street, at 2:50 pm and bus them to our S.O.A.R. After-School Program held at Ruge Hall Student Center (EUC) at FSU, 655 W. Jefferson St. The rider for this trip is scheduled for 2:30 - 3:30 pm.
After dropping off the elementary school students at Ruge Hall at FSU, the bus/buses return to Grace Mission and the 2:30 rider to their starting point (GM). This bus will pick up a new rider at 3:30 at Grace Mission for the next circuit to go pick up five, 6th to 8th graders at Griffin Middle School who get out at 3:50 and take them either to Grace Mission on Tuesdays and Thursdays or to Ruge Hall at FSU on Wednesdays to join the elementary school students for Big Fish Chapel. The signup from 3:30 - 4:30 pm is for this middle school ride.
In the evening, the bus leaves Grace Mission at 5:45 pm to pick children up at Ruge Hall at 6:00 pm to take them home to Springfield Apartments (aka Joe Louis), 1700 Joe Louis St. You may board at Grace Mission, 303 W. Brevard St., at 5:45 pm or board with the children at Ruge Hall at FSU when it arrives at 6:00pm. If you board the bus at 6pm at Ruge Hall, the driver can drop you off at Ruge Hall on his way back to Grace Mission. Some riders are tutors and board at Ruge at 6 pm, so if you will be boarding at Ruge Hall, please tell us that in the "Notes to Grace Mission". We would not want the driver to be waiting for you at Grace Mission and late picking us up!
Please know this signup is of vital importance to our program. If a rider does not show up as scheduled, the bus CAN NOT leave Grace Mission at 2:40 pm until we get another rider, and the school will not hold children more than 30 minutes after the close of school. If you can not make your scheduled commitment, please notify Dawn Adams immediately at 850-320-2233 (text is better than voice mail) so she can find another rider for that day. We need as much lead time as possible! Also, if you can be "on call" for last minute needed substitutions, please let Dawn know. That will speed the process of finding any needed replacements if someone must cancel.

All volunteers working in our children's programs must complete "Safeguarding God's Children," the required two-hour child sexual abuse prevention on-line course, during their first two weeks of volunteering and will receive 2 volunteer hours credit for it.
