If you've been insisting that your art speaks for itself, let Jessica Burko introduce you to the power of a well written artist statement. Help your creative career succeed by giving your work, and yourself, a voice. Galleries, the press, and anyone with a grant to offer, want to read your words and get a deeper insight into your work and your inspirations. You need strong text on your website, blog, and in social media. Learn and practice what makes an effective bio, artist statement, CV, and social media caption in this 2-hour workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring their CV, bio, and or artist statement for sharing and feedback.
Jessica Burko has been an exhibiting artist since 1985 and is currently the Director of Marketing at Kingston Gallery in the South End, where she also maintains her studio. In addition to marketing and creating her work, Jessica is an independent curator with more than thirty exhibitions produced since 2000, and was the Carole Calo Gallery Director at Stonehill College from 2000-06. Jessica further supports artists through Arts Marketing lectures, workshops, and partnerships with organizations such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Mass MoCA’s Assets for Artists Program. She holds a BFA in Fine Art Photography from Rhode Island School of Design, and an MFA in Imaging Arts and Science from Rochester Institute of Technology.
