In this visual and brand-driven culture, a small business cannot survive without an online presence and marketing strategy. Marketing for Artists covers the basics of what marketing means for artists, and also incorporates the essentials of developing an online persona. Concepts covered in this workshop will include:
- An overview of what marketing means for artists
- Pain-free ways you can market yourself and your art
- The basics of branding concepts, and what marketing materials are most important to develop
- How to develop and maintain your brand online through the use of social media, your own website, and blog
Jessica Burko has been an exhibiting artist since 1985 and is currently the Program Manager and Curator at the Photographic Resource Center at Lesley University. Burko has worked in a range of positions in the arts industry since 1996 including as an independent curator with more than thirty exhibitions produced since 2000, as the Director of Marketing at Kingston Gallery, and as Director of the Carole Calo Gallery Director at Stonehill College. Burko supports independent artists by leading Arts Marketing lectures, workshops, and through partnerships with organizations such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Mass MoCA’s Assets for Artists Program. She holds a BFA in Fine Art Photography from Rhode Island School of Design, and an MFA in Imaging Arts and Science from Rochester Institute of Technology. Burko is a working artist with a studio in Boston’s South End and she lives in the Roslindale neighborhood.
