Juneteenth Logistics Committee
Chester County, Pennsylvania, has planned a county-wide commemoration of Juneteenth, the oldest-known celebration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Four partners -- the Chester County Historic Preservation Society, Voices Underground, the Chester County History Center and the Chester County Planning Commission – are working together to present an array of programs and public events that honor the courage and commitment of residents, past and present, in support of freedom and equality for all.
We are looking for generous volunteers to help with three keynote events:
Continuing the Journey: An Evening with Dr. Joshua Bennett | Friday June 18 @ 6pm | Longwood Gardens
The Role of the Artist in the Journey Toward Freedom: An evening with Caroline Randall Williams | Saturday June 19 @ 5pm | Cheyney University
Freedom’s Table: A Dinner with African American Chef, Elijah Milligan | Sunday June 20 @ 6pm | Lincoln University
Volunteers will assist in directing guests to parking, greeting guests at the event space, ticketing and ushering guests to their seats. Volunteers will be able to attend the events free of charge. Please sign up below for available times.
A short training will provided to all volunteers prior to the event, including COVID-19 requirements.
