Music Foundation Volunteer Opportunities

Below you will find all the opportunities the Music Foundation has for volunteers. It is essential to the success of our music program that parents and students alike get involved! We have many events throughout the year and we needs lots of help!

Please sign up for one or more volunteer opportunities and you will be contacted when the event is near for your assistance.

Board Of Directors (6)

Annually in the spring we need to find replacement or new board members for any open positions for the following school year: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Member(s) At Large - please consider self nominating for any of these positions.

Website/Mail Chimp/Social Media Manager

Update Website dates of all events known at the beginning of the year, keep home page updated with news/events upcoming, send out weekly newsletter via MailChimp, send out other announcements via MailChimp as requested, post on FB (typically held by VP)

 

Marching Band Support (6)

This begins the middle of August through mid November. Several positions: Uniform Measurement, Pit Crew Parents, Student Coordinator, Party Crew, Color Guard Liaison, Equipment Truck Driver(s)

 

9th Grade Orientation Table (2)

Set up a table to sell our "wares" and promote our team (sell snacks, water, spirit wear, magnets, ornaments, whatever we have!)

 

Back to School Lunch/Dinner (3)

Organize the back to school lunch or dinner for the staff (before the school year starts). Order and pick up food, sign up genius for donations, take stock/purchase paper products, set up and clean up

 

Concert Attire (2)

Entails going into school sometime during the first month of school and measuring students who need to purchase concert attire (tuxes and dresses), placing order with vendor, collecting payments, and distributing when order comes in

Cash Card Sales (2)

Year Round: Fill cash card orders received in the black box, purchase cards from Weis/Giant, distribute cards to directors/black box

 

Publicity (2)

Communicate events held by the Music Foundation to local papers, online sites, feeder schools etc.

 

Howard County Parents For School Music (2)

Attend monthly meetings held at various schools in the county, report back to Music Foundation during its monthly meeting any news (if we have two people you can coordinate who goes)

 

Photography (2)

Show up to all Music Department Sponsored Events and take pictures, upload to a site that can be used by our Website manager

 

Business Patron Program (2)

Most donations are received during the first quarter of the school year - solicit donations from local businesses, send thank you notes/complimentary tickets, communicate sponsors to MF and Directors, update powerpoint

 

Family Patron Program

Most donations are received during the first quarter of the school year - collect donation/forms, write/create Thank You notes and distribute complimentary concert tickets, communicate sponsors to Music Foundation and Directors for programs

 

Yankee Candle/World's Finest Chocolates (2)

Fundraiser held at the beginning of school - promoting the fundraiser in classes, working with the vendors, collecting payments/orders, distribution of orders (distribution is early to mid November)

 

Apple/Citrus Sales (10)

We typically have 3 apple sales and 2 citrus sales running from October - January - LOTS OF HELP NEEDED

Spirit Wear Sales (2)

Fall and/or Spring - work with vendor, promote to students, distribute spirit wear when completed

 

Concert Program Coordinator

Gather information for the Winter and Spring Concert Programs for patrons, business sponsors, student data, current events, etc. Work with directors and other MF members to coordinate this information and update the program.

 

Winter Concerts (2)

Ensure there are enough tickets in stock, organize volunteers to run box office, mind the doors, hand out programs

Holiday Jazz Cabaret (8)

Held in late December before winter break - organize, promote, create sign up genius's for donations and volunteers, set up, run, clean up

 

Choral Cluster Concert (4)

Held beginning of January - organize, purchase food/snacks for attendees, create sign up genius for volunteers

 

Flea Market Team (4)

Annual flea market is held in February, organizing donations, publicity, volunteers, set up, cleanup and running event (planning begins in December)

Annual Awards Banquet - Awards Coordinator

Held in May - gather lists of students from directors for years of service awards and senior awards, work with awards vendor/engraver to have plaques updated, purchase Senior Gifts (small value gift cards), purchase carnations for seniors

Annual Awards Banquet Food Coordinator (2)

Held in May - Organize food donations, order pizzas, take stock and purchase paper products, provide communications to Website/MailChimp coordinator

 

Joe Corbi's/Mrs. Fields Desserts Fundraiser (2)

New Fundraiser to be held in January/February - need to promote, organize, collect orders, work with vendor, organize distribution, create sign up genius for volunteers on distribution day

 

Mattress Fundraiser

Held in March - work with Director (Mr. Ellis) and CPS Sales Person for communications, volunteers (both parents and students), etc.

 

Jazz At the Ridge

Held in April - promote, organize event, work with Mr. Ellis

I will continue for my last year. Should have someone co-chair so they can take over the following years.
