Forsyth Beekeepers Club
Join us for a few hours and learn more about how queens are reared in the hive, and how to graft your own. This is a unique opportunity, not offered by many other clubs in the state.
Registration is at 8:30am.
We will begin with a presentation on queen grafting. Lunch is provided. After lunch, we will graft young larvae into queen cups. Participants (grafting participants limited to 15 or 20; depending on avaiable larvae at the time of class) will be given the chance to make 4 of their own queens at essentially no cost. (Replacement queens are typically $25+, plus shipping, so making them yourself is a huge value.)
Even if you're not looking to expand your apiary, this class will give you much insight into being a sustainable beekeeper.
Member Cost $25
Non Member cost $45 (includes 1 year membership)
cash or check payable to Forsyth Beekeepers Club
membership form can be completed here prior to class
Materials wll be provided, so you don't need to bring anything in particular. There are no live adult bees, so protective gear is unnecessary.
Established members - please wear your nametags! We're trying really hard to connect names to faces......we've grown so much this year, we need all the help we can get. :) I'll bring fancy labels for temporary nametags in case you forget, or are waiting on your nametag, or are visiting. :)
