2021 Holiday Show Volunteer Signup

Thank you for helping the Haverford Guild of Craftsmen to put on another great Art & Fine Craft show! Please look through all the options below and sign up for as many as you would like. 

This year we are taking a different approach. Instead of asking you to join general commitees, and from there learning where is the greatest need, we are taking a more specific approach. Now we have slots for specific tasks, organized under those committees. The committee chairs and volunteer coordinators are listed at the top of their sections. If you have questions, or if something comes up, that is the person to contact. 

Another new thing we are adding is that everyone who signs up to help will get a mention in our program book in a special "Thank You" section. Participating artists who volunteer, or who have a helper or friend who volunteers, will be automatically added to a "Featured Artist" section in our program. Volunteering is the only way to get into this section of the program! If you are a participating artist, please write "Participating artist" in the comment section when you sign up. If you are a helper for a participating artist, please note which artist you are helping out in the comments so that you can both get the credit.

Greeters:

Yours will be the first face that attendees see. Your job is to welcome them, ask them to sign in, give directions, and sell admission and raffle tickets. Your coordinator will help you and give you all of the forms and supplies needed. You are not alone! The greeter coordinator will be located close to the greeters. All monies collected will be turned over to the Show Chairperson at the end of the show.

Signage Volunteers:

Signage volunteers will place the signs out before the show begins and takes them back down again after the show. Spouses are welcome to sign up! The show chair will have a map with where the signs should go.

Booth Layout Committee:

The booth committee first meets to plan the floor layout – making the best use of the space and as balanced as possible. Then, during the setup day, the Booth Layout Committee tapes the spaces on the floor down so that artists know where to go to set up their booth.

Cords Committee:

The Cords Committee is responsible for taping down the cords and surge protectors that artists will plug into for the duration of the show.

Publicity & Sponsorship Committee:

Help get the word out! We need advertising and sponsors to help make this show a success. There are lots of ways to help out.

Artist Display/Raffle & Membership Tables:

On the day of the show we will need someone to “man” the Artist Display table and call the winners of the raffle. This person will also be there to answer questions about guild membership as well as hand out membership forms to anyone who is interested.

Décor & Hospitality:

On the day of the show we will need volunteers to help us out with decorations and stocking & manning the artist hospitality area. (Please note: This year out of an abundance of caution, we will not be providing food or drink to the artists, however we will still try to set up an area where artists will be able to take a break.)

Loading Dock:

On the day of the show we will need volunteers to help us out help the artists load in and out with the loading doc. We will provide walkie-talkies and safety vests.

Storage Unit:

We will need help (preferably from someone with a larger vehicle) getting our show supplies from and to our storage unit. The ideal person for this would be someone who is not a participating artist (and doesn’t already have a packed vehicle). Multiple trips are perfectly fine.

The Storage Unit is located at Public Storage in Haverford.
