HASFR Apple Day Volunteers
It's that time of year again! HASFR is making 800 apple pies for Fort Riley's annual Apple Day Celebration and we need your help! We will start prepping on Sunday, September 19th and we will be finishing on September 24th.
Due to the General order #12, masks are required at this event.
***Please arrive 15 mins before your shift with your food handlers card. If you cannot make it or running late please call or text pie queen at 757-634-9857.
Everyone will need to obtain a current food handler's card within FOUR DAYS of signing up for a shift.
The class can be taken online at http://quizstar.4teachers.org/indexs.jsp To search for the class I recommend you search by the teacher, Elizabeth Walton. The class is 'Food Handlers Course'. Register for the class. Then select classes and it'll take you to the option to start the quiz.
Be sure to use this food handlers course PDF as reference for the answers found here ---> https://irwin.tricare.mil/Portals/123/Images/Documents/Public%20Health/2online-foodhandler-training-updated-2-june-2015.pdf?ver=2020-09-09-142457-020&fbclid=IwAR0LQ-7qboDNoXpa1HUEz3QhQdecS2bwJPhh2QCOvOuRccnVVpGU_qr59uc
It will be your responsibility to bring your food handlers card with you to your shift. If you do not have your card with you, you cannot participate in the pie assembly for that shift. If you are doing more than one shift you may leave your card in a folder that we will have. You may also screenshot your passing grade after taking the test and use that as proof. Volunteers have to be at least 12 years of age. No minors will be allowed to be dropped off and must be accompanied by an adult during their shift. Also noteworthy, visitors without a DOD ID card who wish to enter Fort Riley are reminded that a temporary Fort Riley Access Pass or Badge is required. If you know the exact date of your visit, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to get a temporary pass or early by stopping by the Visitor Control Center, calling (785)239-2982 or emailing [email protected].
Please note there are longer wait times for passes during periods of higher traffic - especially weekday mornings and weekday afternoons-when Soldiers and civilian employees are traveling to work and physical fitness activities. There will also be construction going on and there may be a detour. If you're unable to get a pass early, make sure to allow extra time the day of your visit to get through processing at the Visitor Control Center. The Visitor Control Center (Bldg 885) is located just prior to the Henry Gate Access Control Point (Exit 301, U.S. Interstate Highway 70) and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are with a DOD ID cardholder you will be able to get through the gate as long as the DOD ID cardholder is driving through the trusted traveler program.
