Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah May 2021

In an effort to spread ourselves out and keep everybody safe, Mitzvah Day has turned into Mitzvah May this year! We will have both remote and in-person volunteer opportunities throughout the month of May.  The in-person volunteer projects will take place every Sunday in May.  Remote volunteer opportunities can be done at any time throughout the month.

Please register and sign up for your Mitzvah May 2021 projects here. Enter how many members of your party are volunteering in the quantity box and list their names where applicable. Family members participating in different projects should register individually.  Feel free to register for as many as you'd like.

Please note that in an effort to stay safe you can only volunteer in person either individually or with members of your family/pod.  Thank you!

Wear a mask at all times, stay 6 feet apart, and sanitize often.  By signing up you are agreeing to follow the CDC safety guidelines for Covid19.

We are also adding the addition of Create-Your-Own Mitzvot. As we have pivoted in so many ways this year, we want you to get creative and plan your own Mitvot! Choose how you want to serve the greater community. Let us know what you plan to do in the sign-up comments and snap a photo to send to us.  One of the wonderful things about this tradition in our Jewish community is that it shows how much we care about the greater Greensboro community.  If you choose a project where you would drop something off or talk to others, please share that you are volunteering on behalf of the Jewish community.

Some Ideas to consider for a self-participation Mitzvah:

  • Make artwork or pot a plant for seniors in residences.
  • Plant a tree.
  • Pick another area that is not on this list, bring rubber gloves and a trash bag and clean up any trash you find.
  • Clean a stream.
  • Plant a pollinator garden.
  • Plant vegetable seeds with the intent to donate the harvest.
  • Find a vaccination center near you and ask if they need any help.
  • Bake cupcakes for hospital workers.

SIGN UPS THAT ARE REMOTE OR FROM HOME CAN BE DONE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY!

By signing up, you consent to have your photo used for online, print, and other event publicity.

You can post photos of yourself doing Mitzvot on the Temple EmanuelJFS, or Beth David Facebook pages. You can also email photos of yourselves doing Mizvot to [email protected]
