At Loaves & Fishes, our dedicated warehouse staff distributes & receives thousands of pounds of food on a daily basis. You will be able to participate in the complex and ever changing process of food donation distribution and witness how the food that helps so many, gets to where it helps the most. We are looking for volunteers to help us in our daily warehouse operations that include: greeting partners, stocking inventory, organizing & cleaning, sorting & crating produce, and stocking freezers & coolers.
When you decide to sign-up, please be aware of the following guidelines:
-Volunteers may be asked to lift up to 40 pounds. Volunteer opportunities can be physically demanding, so individuals should be able to stand, lift, pull, push, and bend. They can expect to inspect, sort and package food and non-food items, along with assisting with various projects that may arise. In the event that a volunteer is unable to lift certain weights or needs to participate in a different activity, please contact Garrett Kratz in advance to ensure alternate projects are available ([email protected])
-Children fifteen years of age and above are welcome, under fifteen must be accompanied by an adult.
-Please bring additional clothing to stay warm in the event of freezer/cooler work (happens occasionally) and work gloves (if you have them, otherwise we can supply them). Closed toe shoes are required.
-Please leave valuables at home or lock in your trunk before arriving.
-Upon arriving at our location, please enter in the front of our building and ask for Laura. She will have you sign a waiver and direct you to our warehouse. Any belongings can be kept in our kitchen/break room area. Food/Drink is only allowed in our kitchen area. Please leave valuables at home or locked in your trunk before entering the warehouse.
